"Blue Plate Special" 6x6

"Blue Plate Special"
6x6 oil on panel
Another still life, small format painting. Love those green apples, both for eating and painting! I like experimenting with different background colors when setting up the still life in my studio. You can create so many different looks just by changing the background colors.

This painting is available for purchase in my Etsy shop, Denise Rose Studio.

  5. I agree with several other commentors - nice apple. I like that you didn't round all the edges. And you got the shadow shape down perfectly!

  8. Nice brushwork, Denise. The cool blue plate and green apple look great against the warm orange background.

  9. I'm loving the brushwork here and you are so right about how the background influences the color.
One of my most influential teachers emphasized 'color vibration' and I think toward that when I plan my set up. Thus, you'll see a lot of complimentary colors in my set ups.
